Recognition is given to one of our many volunteers.  We could not do our job with out our parents and families.  


Mission Statement

The St. Monica Parent Teacher Organization is committed to nurturing an atmosphere of academic enrichment and spiritual growth within our Catholic school community.  This is achieved by:School---PTO-Logo

  • Facilitating communication among parents, teachers, administration and students in our school family;

  • Providing Christian support and encouragement for the parents, teachers, administration and students in our school family;

  • sharing our time, talent and treasure in classroom and extracurricular activities;

  • conveying a positive image of our school to the parish and the community;

  • Identifying high priority non-budgeted school needs, and providing the resources to support them.

PTO Meetings

Meetings are the First Tuesday August - June from 7pm – 8pm in the Library.

Exceptions November 11th & January (joint with School Commission) on January 12th



Volunteer Opportunities

Event: PTO Meeting

A monthly one-hour meeting of the PTO board. All SMS parents are PTO members and are welcome and encouraged to attend! Earn one service hour for attending.

Event: Trash Bag Sale

Eighth-grade SMS students sell trash bags to raise money for their class trip to Washington DC.

Event: Book Fair (Fall & Spring)

The book fair offers families an opportunity to purchase books at discounted rates. Volunteers help staff the book fair.

Event: GrandFriends Day

GrandFriends’ Day is a day to honor Grandparents and/or Special Friends of SMS students. GrandFriends join their students for mass, then visit classrooms for snacks and activities.

Event: Trunk or Treat

Trunk or Treat is a highly attended social event consisting of Halloween activities and trick or treating.

Event: Open House

The annual open house provides an opportunity to invite members of the community learn about our SMS community, academic successes, and Catholic values. Volunteers provide tours of the school, teachers are available for questions, and classrooms have fascinating work on display. The open house also kicks off Catholic Schools Week. This is an excellent opportunity for existing SMS families to meet teachers and tour classrooms in preparation for the next school year, as well.

Event: Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week kicks off with Sunday mass and the school’s open house. Each school day, students are invited to participate in a fun theme day. SMS also takes the opportunity to show appreciation of teachers, staff, students and families.

Event Teacher Appreciation Luncheon


Volunteers staff classrooms, the cafeteria, and the school office for a couple of hours, while teachers and staff attend a luncheon. Volunteers organize and serve the meal, provide entertainment, and shower our teachers and staff with donated gifts!

Event: Spring Plant Sale

School and parish families are offered opportunity to purchase flowers and plants through SMS.  Orders are usually due before Spring Break with pick up the Thursday before Mother's Day.

Event: May Crowning and Brunch

May crowning is a special mass honoring Mary as the Queen of May. Eighth-grade students plan and participate in the mass. Following mass, a brunch is provided for eighth-grade students and families.

Event: Move-a-thon

The last fundraiser of the year! Students, parents and teachers walk, run or roll through the St. Monica parking lot. Students solicit donations from family and friends. The event includes a St. Vincent prayer path, encourages fitness, and offers some friendly competition.

Event: Field Day (Combined event with Move-A-Thon)

Field day offers students the opportunity to compete in group activities and games. The event celebrates teamwork, fitness and all abilities.

Event: 8th Grade Graduation and Reception

Commencement ceremony for 8th grade followed by a reception for students and families.
