MR. KALNAJS (MR. K)-I had great teachers growing up and I strive to be one for your children! I have a passion for social studies, discovering how the world works, and finding ways for us to better it. I believe that 'education of the mind without education of the heart is useless!' I graduated from IUPUI and I am a commissioned officer in the IN National Guard. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my son, reading, and going to the gym.
MRS. RAZZINO - I hold a BA in Linguistics from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellin, Colombia. I started my career in Medellin teaching English to elementary students grades K-5. After a few years, I moved to the United States of America and taught Spanish and ESOL in North Carolina. Then I moved to Georgia and then to South Carolina where I taught Spanish to students grades K-8 and Spanish I. I feel blessed to be part of Saint Monica school and also be part of your child’s education. I enjoy spending time with my son and my husband. I love to travel, take pictures and dance Merengue.
MR. BOURKE - He is in his seventh year here at St. Monica. In addition to teaching 7th and 8th grade language arts, Mr. Bourke directs the the junior high theatre program - previous shows have included The Music Man, The Sound of Music, Godspell, and Oklahoma! - and is looking forward to directing this year's production of Annie. He and his wife Claire recently celebrated their one year anniversary, and, with his best friend, he owns and directs the Brooks and Bourke Theatre Company, which operates in the Indianapolis and Broad Ripple areas. In his spare time, Mr. Bourke enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends, and watching movies, going out to eat, and reading books of all genres!
Ms. Rose - Greetings St. Monica Parents and Students! I am Ms. Rose and this is my second year teaching junior high math at SMS. My most recent experience was teaching algebra at the junior high and high school level. For almost 10 years, I have tutored and instructed students at all grade levels of mathematics.
I graduated from Purdue University Calumet with my Bachelor of Science degree in Management, also attaining a major in engineering. Later, I took graduate classes to fulfill requirements for my Indiana Teaching License. I am a member of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. As I practice my journey of being a life-long learner, I try to instill this in my students daily. Critical thinking is a huge part of understanding mathematics. I promote this in the classroom by encouraging students to use patterns, analyze functions, explore graphs, and develop problem solving and logical reasoning skills. Throughout this school year, my hope is that students pick up on my love of math, and it becomes exciting and contagious. When I’m not at school, I’m most likely attending my children’s sports events, riding my bike, or going on road trips to explore new sights. Let’s practice our faith-filled journey by serving others. Go SMS Eagles!
