Greetings. My name is Tim Bush. I am excited about being a part of the Daily Reflection Ministry. Originally from the Chicago area, my wife and I, along with our 3 kids have been members of St. Monica since 1997. I currently teach Middle School Religion, here at St. Monica. I have a degree in Education from Northern Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Religious Education from the University of Loyola in Chicago. I have been working in ministry close to 25 years in a variety of positions, mainly working with youth.
Although a cradle Catholic, there was a time in my early 20’s that I wandered from the faith. Going to church wasn’t a priority. There were more “exciting things” in my life then God and a faith life. But I soon realized how wrong I was. I was in the Army and stationed in Germany when I decided to give the church another try. Having been away from sometime, I knew a confession was probably the first step back. Sitting down with the base priest and sharing my whereabouts, the first thing that he said to me was “Welcome, home.”
Although those words changed my life’s direction, I still recognize the challenges in life that we all face. But what makes it easier for me, is knowing that there is a God who loves me for who I am and for what I have or haven’t done. That is the approach to my own ministry, especially ministering with young people. Compassion, understanding, and seeking the face of Christ in others and in our everyday lives is what I hope to offer you in my scriptural reflections.
