Ruth Mytty

I was fortunate to be born into a family of strong Lutherans who live their faith, study their bibles and witness Christ's love just like their ancestors did for hundreds of years. Hearing my grandfather read the Bible to the family at breakfast, and witnessing our family's value of scripture and prayer, were great blessings and a strong foundation for a life in Christ.

I became Catholic 35 years ago, and I love the traditions of our Catholic faith. Many of our rituals enable my spirit to soar and for that I am so grateful. My spiritual life has deepened and expanded. Jesus has touched me profoundly through the Cursillo movement, Base Community, and SCC. It was a joy to serve as the Family Life Coordinator for the Peoria Diocese (St. Patrick's Church in Urbana) for nine years.

Al and I have been married for 42 years, lived in five states and two countries. God was with us at every turn. Our four children are grown, married and have blessed us with 10 very young and active grandkids. They are pure joy.

I look forward to serving in this ministry and pray that God will use me in some way to touch the lives of others.
